The programme consists of nine awards categories including Sharjah Gulf Excellence Award, Sharjah Gulf Localisation Award, Sharjah Excellence Award, Sharjah Small & Medium Enterprises Award, Sharjah Entrepreneurs Award, Sharjah Green Award, Sharjah Social Responsibility Award, Sharjah Best Security Standards Award and Sharjah Entrepreneurs with Disability Award.

An induction seminar is scheduled be conducted in June to highlight the Award criteria, categories, and participation paradigm, as well as to organise local and Gulf orientation field trips.

The awards programme comes as part of the SCCI‘s initiatives and plans to help enhance the business sector.

Its aims to highlight and reward successful private institutions on a local and regional level, continue improving best practices and experience in the awarded fields, encourage others to participate in such competitions, and to benefit Sharjah’s economy in all sectors by promoting sustainable economic growth.

Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, emphasised the Chamber’s commitment to organising the Sharjah Excellence Award on an annual basis.

He noted that SCCI is constantly eager to expand the award’s criteria and categories in order to promote positive competition among participating economic enterprises and to foster an innovative, creative, and productive environment.

Al Owais also underlined the award’s contributions to shed light on inspiring success stories and role models. The Sharjah Excellence Award had only one category in 1990, with 20 participants, whereas it presently includes nine categories, with 599 participants, that also comprises 509 residents, 70 specialised arbitrators, as well as over 59 events and workshops.

Moreover, Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General, SCCI, praised the Sharjah Excellence Award’s impact in strengthening Sharjah’s culture, organisational excellence, and innovation by utilising global best practices of promoting and celebrating all business sectors and creating a positive competitive environment in the emirate.

Furthermore, he emphasised its significant role in improving the performance of economic institutions and supporting the UAE government’s goals and aspirations for enhancing the country’s position as a major investment and growth destination in the region.

Al Awadi also encouraged Sharjah-based businesses, as well as those in the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council, to seize this excellent opportunity to participate in such a distinguished award and reap the benefits of its various developmental advantages.

Nada Al Hajri, General Coordinator of the Sharjah Excellence Award, clarified that the registration for the nine awards is accessible through the e-card and the Award’s website.

She also noted that the award is based on the Excellence Model of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) and is considered a comprehensive management framework that is used by more than 30 major corporations worldwide, with each award category having its own standards and criteria.
