‘Invest in Sharjah’ teams up with ‘du’ to enhance tech innovation

The Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah) has signed a partnership agreement with du, the leading telecom and digital services provider. The goal of the partnership is to drive technological innovation and accelerate the adoption of advanced digital solutions in Sharjah’s business environment, including AI, IoT, and cloud computing.

This strategic collaboration aims to position Sharjah as a hub for cutting-edge technologies while enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of businesses in the emirate.

In the presence of Sheikh Saud bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Digital Office, His Excellency Ahmed Al Qaseer, CEO of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), and Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of du. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, CEO of Invest in Sharjah and Jasim Al Awadi, Chief ICT Officer at du, and was formalised during Invest in Sharjah’s participation at GITEX Global 2024 within the Sharjah Government Pavilion.

Du establishes new office at Saeed
Under the MoU, du will  provide advanced technological services to Sharjah investors, entrepreneurs, and business owners. These services will include IoT, AI, digital twin technology, cloud computing, and a variety of communication services, further boosting Sharjah’s appeal as a destination for innovation-driven enterprises.

His Excellency Al Musharrkh noted that the agreement aligns with Invest in Sharjah’s ongoing mission to create a more supportive and attractive business environment, and the important role that integrated telecommunications services play in ensuring the success and sustainability of businesses in the region.

“Advanced services from telecommunications leaders are crucial to the growth and long-term success of businesses operating in today’s competitive environment. Continued collaboration across all sectors of the UAE’s business ecosystem is vital, as these robust partnerships have been instrumental in driving national economic growth and positioning the UAE as a global leader,” the CEO said.

World’s first AI-powered trade licence
During GITEX Global 2024, Invest in Sharjah also showcased the world’s first AI-powered trade licence, which was initially launched during the Sharjah Investment Forum. This groundbreaking licence can be processed entirely through AI, allowing entrepreneurs and investors to complete the procedure in under five minutes. The AI-powered trade licence will soon be available at Saeed and SPC Free Zone, with plans to expand to other free zones across Sharjah.
