Sharjah Airport welcomes UPS, strengthening global connectivity

As part of its strategic efforts to enhance its services and operations in the travel and cargo sector, Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) announced the addition of UPS, a global leader in logistics, to the list of global cargo companies operating from Sharjah Airport with four weekly cargo flights.

This announcement was made during a reception held by the SAA, attended by His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, and His Excellency ‏Sheikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of SAA. From UPS, the attendees included Daniel Carrera, President, UPS Europe, Middle East, Africa & India (EMEAI); Rick Fletcher, President – Operations & Transportation – UPS Europe, Middle East, Africa and India (EMEAI); and Ismet Demirel, Vice President of Transportation – UPS India, Middle East and Africa (ISMEA), along with a team of managers and representatives from the SAA.

Meeting the Comprehensive and Sustainable Economic Development Needs in Sharjah
His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, said: “We continue our commitment to enhancing the strategic leading position of Sharjah as an attractive economic center for business and various commercial activities from different countries around the world. Enhancing the Efficiency and Effectiveness of Logistics Operations and Cargo Handling
The Sharjah Airport Authority seeks to adopt innovative tools and systems to ensure the provision of fast, reliable, and highly credible shipping services. This positively impacts the improvement of handling, storage, and shipping operations, and enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations and cargo movement. By improving the quality of services supporting the economic sectors in the Emirate of Sharjah, this initiative contributes to stimulating local trade, by facilitating the exchange of goods and products entering and leaving the UAE.
