Rexton Technologies Middle East, an industrial arm of Sharjah-headquartered Kingston Holdings FZC, is setting up a multi-million dollar LED Manufacturing facility in Sharjah Airport Free Zone (SAIF Zone), to capitalise on the region’s growing demand for LED lights. According to recent research by Frost & Sullivan, the GCC LED market is currently growing at 16.8 percent (CAGR) per annum and is expected to reach US$ 1.978 billion in revenues by the year 2020.
Kingston first ventured into the manufacture of light fittings through its 2005 acquisition of Square Engineering, trainsferring manufacturing operations to a 5,000 square metre (54,000 s.q ft.) purpose built factory in SAIF Zone in 2008.
The first phase of the new Rexton Technologies LED production plant will manufacture a range of fast moving commercial items including LED panels, retrofit downlights, street lights, weather proof lights, batten fittings, flood lights and spot lights.
Rexton Technologies will also develop a world-class 3,000 square foot (279 sqm.) digital LED lighting laboratory as part of the LED facility. The lab will research and test new products, technologies and applications, providing testing of LED efficiency, gauging quality, light output, colour rendering ability and durability. Rexton is currently seeking international accreditation for the laboratory.
