Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), one of the most ambitious environmental tourism developers in the Middle East, will be announcing exclusive updates regarding its business management and project expansion during World Travel Market London 2017 being held from 6-8 November at ExCeL London. Shurooq will be exhibiting in the Sharjah tourism pavilion (stand ME400).
Shurooq, which has helped to drive the region’s luxury eco-tourism industry and attract overseas investment to its authentic and historic cultural destinations, will be playing a central role for the United Arab Emirates at the event, revealing its latest property management appointments, updates on its project phases and partnerships with new tour operators.
Shurooq has been responsible for a surge of interest in environmental tourism in Sharjah, with resorts such as Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-tourism Project and Kalba Eco-Tourism Project, which have both been designed to offer five star facilities without compromising any aspect of the natural environment.
Figures released by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority in August showed that the emirate’s hospitality sector is now worth AED 372 million (USD 101 million) per annum, following an increase in revenue of 7.8% in the first six months of 2017 compared to the same period last year. This is in line with the UAE’s tourism contribution to GDP as a whole, which is estimated at 12.4% this year.
Ahmad Obaid Al Qaseer, COO of Shurooq, said: “It’s a particularly exciting time for Shurooq as we begin new partnerships and complete new phases across our portfolio. The level of tourism investment that Sharjah is attracting continues to grow at a phenomenal rate, with a special emphasis on the cultural and environmental sector, so World Travel Market London is an ideal opportunity for us to share our news with all those involved in the hospitality industry as well as fellow developers and foreign investors.”
He continued: “While taking part in the event, we will be headlining with a host of announcements such as new developments on the authority’s ‘Sharjah Collection’ properties, which features a number of luxurious lodges and boutique B&B-style accommodation within the emirate’s eco-tourism and heritage sites.”
Shurooq will also unveil additional facilities to many of its other leisure developments including Al Noor Island, and global F&B outlets at Al Majaz Waterfront, ranked by TripAdvisor as the number one ‘thing to do’ in Sharjah.
