The third edition of Sharjah World Music Festival organized by Furat Qaddouri Music Centre and sponsored by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), will start on the 7th of January 2016, in participation of Arab and western artists and musical bands from 13 countries.
The festival’s concerts will take place at Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Masrah Al Qasba- Theatre, The Flag Island theatre, Heart of Sharjah and Al Majaz Waterfront, and will feature artists from the UAE, Tunis, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Italy, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina, Hungary, Russia, Africa and The festival’s audience will enjoy a variety of musical genres including opera, classical Arabic music, violin, oud, saxophone and piano, and will cover both classical eastern and western music and the modern fast tempo music.
Artist Furat Qaddouri, Manager of Sharjah World Music Festival, said: “The new session of the festival stands out thanks to the richness of its participatory artistic voices and music which we have handpicked in such a way that complements the class and various tastes of the audience. We will simultaneously have authentic Arabic music and contemporary world music such as Violin and Turkish Bouzouki, Zither and Oud and Balkan countries music, Jazz music and Saxophone, besides, the fast rhythms of Samba music and piano, and to please opera lovers, we have arranged a concert by a band of Arab origin with an international audience. We hope that music lovers will enjoy the beautiful lyrics and voices that touch the heart and souls over the six nights of the festival”.
Khalid Ibrahim Al Qaseer, General Coordinator of Sharjah World Music Festival said: “For the third year in a row, the Sharjah World Music Festival comes back to offer a variety of musical performances, uniquely blending together Arabic and International music, thus, allowing different types of musicians to get to know each other and allowing for music collaboration that paves the way for bridging gaps between different cultures and societies. Through our sponsorship of the festival, we look forward to strengthen art tourism in the Emirate of Sharjah, therefore, attracting more visitors to tourist attractions and destinations managed and developed by (Shurooq) in the Emirate.”

Organized by Furat Qaddouri Music Centre and sponsored by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), the first edition of the Sharjah World Music Festival took place in Al Qasba in 2014. As a result of the resounding success and increasing public attention, it was decided to expand the festival in the 2nd edition to include five venues, namely Masrah Al Qasba Theatre, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Qasba, the Heart of Sharjah and the Flag Island.
By organizing this first of its kind festival, Furat Qaddouri Music Centre seeks to boost the cultural and art presence of Sharjah and the UAE, introduce various musical cultures around the world to the UAE community and add a new product to the emirate’s repertoire of tourist, art and culture attractions and to its proven track record of hosting major art, cultural and heritage festivals throughout the year.
