First Premier Inn opens in Sharjah

Action Hotels Company has announced it has opened the first Premier Inn hotel in Sharjah, via its partnership with Premier Inn, the United Kingdom’s biggest hotel brand. Premier Inn, which focuses on affordable hotel accommodation, has nearly 700 hotels in the UK and is rated the UK’s Best Value Hotel Chain by YouGov. The new Sharjah property is one of six Premier Inns in the United Arab Emirates and is part of the brand’s plans to open 50 international hotels by 2018.

There are over 10,000 hotel rooms in Sharjah at more than 100 hotels and hotel apartments, and the Sharjah Commerce Tourism and Development Authority (SCTDA) expects the emirate to be able to offer 15,000 hotel rooms by 2021.

The hotel sector has enjoyed growth throughout the hotel business from budget hotel brands through to luxury 5-star resorts. Business and economy hotels in development include a 4-star, 200 room Novotel located adjacent to Expo Centre Sharjah; a 4-star Sheraton Four Points hotel in Al Rifaa Area; and a 3-star Aloft Hotel on Buheirah Corniche in Sharjah.

The new Premier Inn Sharjah is centrally located on King Faisal Street in the heart of the city and offers 168 modern rooms as well as a range of business and leisure facilities.

Premier Inn’s Sharjah opening follows openings of hotels in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and Premier Inn Hotels Middle East & Africa is currently working on a number of other hotel projects for Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Headquartered in the UAE and listed on the London Stock Exchange (as Action Hotels PLC), Action Hotels Company is an owner, developer and asset manager of branded three and four star hotels in the Middle East and Australia. The company currently owns or manages nine hotels (including ibis and Holiday Inn brands) offering more than over 1,500 rooms and plans to increase its portfolio to 16 hotels by 2017.

More than two million guests stayed at Sharjah hotels during 2014.
