Sharjah will showcase investment opportunities for local and global businesses and investors at the 5th edition of Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) from 30 March – 1 April 2015 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) is a Silver Sponsor of the annual event.
AIM is an emerging markets FDI-focused event established by the UAE Ministry of Economy to provide information to, and networking opportunities for institutional, corporate and individual investors interested in high growth regions.
Shurooq will lead a delegation of Sharjah organisations at AIM 2015, which includes Sharjah International Airport Free Zone (SAIF Zone), Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah Economic Development Department and Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In addition to Shurooq’s exhibition stand AIM-B-7 in Exhibition Hall 6 of the AIM exhibition, there will be a Country Presentation on Sharjah’s trade, economy, development plans and opportunities for investors on 31 March from 2.00pm to 3.00pm in Room 1, Exhibition Hall 5.
Sharjah is a significant contributor to the UAE’s diversification away from oil revenues and is the only economy in the Middle East region with no single sector contributing to more than 20% of its GDP. According to S&P, the four largest sectors in the economy are real estate and business services accounting for about 20%; manufacturing 16%; mining, quarrying, and energy 13%; and wholesale and retail trade 12%.
Sharjah government has a wide range of initiatives in place to help develop its economy and recently played host to 12th annual World Forum for Foreign Direct Investment. The Economic Development Department recently launched an Investor Services Centre, providing a one-stop-shop for investors setting up businesses in the emirate. Meanwhile, Shurooq drives a year-round calendar of worldwide trade and investment promotion activities.
