Expo Centre CEO to chair IAEE Gulf Chapter

Expo Centre Sharjah chief executive officer Saif Mohammed Al Midfa has been elected as the chairman of Arabian Gulf Chapter of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), the leading association for the global exhibition industry. The IAEE’s Gulf chapter represents the region’s US$1.3 billion (AED 4.8b) meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) industry.

IAEE is the largest association of the exhibitions and events industry in the world, with a membership of show organizers, exhibitors and exhibition suppliers. Organisers of more than 20,000 exhibitions and buyer-seller events around the world are members of IAEE. Globally, IAEE is composed of 1,300 members (organisations) and over 9,000 individual members, while the Arabian Gulf Chapter currently has 30 members.

The recognition for Expo Centre Sharjah and its CEO comes a few months after he was elected as the first vice chairman for the Middle East/African Chapter of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), Paris. As the new IAEE regional chair, Al Midfa hopes to play a key role in extending the reach and standing of IAEE’s Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) programme in the GCC

Expo Centre Sharjah was the first trade fair centre to be established in the UAE and has been hosting international fairs and exhibitions since 1977. Over the years, the Centre has become one of the region’s most popular trade exhibition venues drawing exhibitors and visitors from all around the world. Al Midfa has served as CEO of the Expo Centre since 2004.
