Sharjah to launch export development centre

Sharjah’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry is to launch a new Sharjah Exports Development Centre next week. The centre will help promote and develop exports from Sharjah industries to regional and global markets.

The Exports Development Centre is one of a wide range of initiatives undertaken by Sharjah government departments and authorities to help capitalise on the emirate’s strong economic growth, including initiatives aimed at enhancing customer service and making it easier to do business in Sharjah.

Sharjah is well positioned as a trade hub, with sea ports on its East and West coasts, a thriving logistics industry, and a long standing reputation for first-class meeting, incentives, conference and exhibitions facilities.

Sharjah is currently one of the fastest growing economies in the region and with estimates putting last year’s GDP growth at 13%. Sharjah’s industrial base is also unique in the GCC, with no single sector contributing more than 20% of its total GDP.

The announcement of the new exports centre follows a few weeks after the opening of a new one-stop-shop for investors established by the Sharjah Economic Development Department. The Investor Services Centre significantly reduces the amount of time taken to establish a business in Sharjah, while increasing levels of customer service.
