Renowned Iraqi singer Kadim Al Sahir is to headline the second edition of the Sharjah World Music Festival taking place from 16 to 25 January 2015. Organised by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) in collaboration with Furat Qaddouri Music Center the festival will feature an elite line-up of vocalists and music performers from 13 countries.
One of the most successful performers in the Arab World, Sahir has been variously dubbed the Caesar of Arabic Song and Iraq’s Ambassador to the world. Born in Mosul Iraq, Sahir has performed for audiences in Europe, the USA and Asia Pacific and has 22 albums to his name.
Shurooq also revealed that Syrian singer Lina Shamamian and Lebanese artist Omaima Khalil will participate in the festival, making their debut in Sharjah at three shows that will be held in various venues across the emirate.
Participants in the event include artists from the UAE, Egypt, England, France, India, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Moldavia, Oman, Spain and Syria. Artists will perform a variety of vocal and musical performances aimed at a range of different audiences.
Five venues selected for the second SWMF’s musical shows and concerts are Sharjah city’s Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Qasba, Heart of Sharjah, and Flag Island.
