Registration open for FDI forum

Preparations for the 2015 World Forum for Foreign Direct Investment are well underway and registration for the event is now open. Held annually in locations around the world, the 2015 forum will be held from 7 – 10 February in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, hosted by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and organised by Red Hot Locations. It is the first time that the global event has taken place in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The World Forum for Foreign Direct Investment provides a unique platform to network and discuss global location decisions amongst foreign direct investment (FDI) dealmakers, including globally expanding companies, economic and investment agencies, and the multipliers and site consultants who advise both parties. Overall, the forum aims to help improve the dialogue between government and industry on global FDI, to provide a better understanding of the conditions which attract corporate investors and how to overcome the challenges companies face when setting up in new locations.

Attendees will also benefit from a variety of networking opportunities throughout the event including an inaugural dinner, an FDI Association Awards and other meetings and cultural activities.

In recognition of Sharjah’s strategic location, the theme for the 2015 World Forum for Foreign Direct Investment is ‘Where East Meets West’ and is expected to draw speakers and delegates from around the world to discuss global investment issues.
Past World Forums have been held in Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Valencia, Bologna, Vilnius, Tallin, Shanghai, and Philadelphia. The 2014 World Forum was held in Philadelphia, USA in June and concluded with the announcement of Sharjah as the venue for next year’s forum.

Shurooq was recently named FDI Agency of the Year in the MENA region by The European Magazine’s Global Banking and Finance Awards. The authority organises a year-round calendar of events locally, regionally and globally as part of its strategy to highlight Sharjah’s economic and investment potential. So far this year, Shurooq has taken Sharjah’s investment proposition to major trading partners all over the world, including China, Germany, India, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
