The World Forum for Foreign Direct Investment will hold its 12th annual event in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates next year, hosted by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). The forum is hosted by a different global trade hub each year and 2015* will mark the first year that the FDI event is held in the Middle East region. The World Forum for FDI provides a platform for international investors, policy makers and economic development organisations to network and discuss global trends and opportunities. The announcement follows the Authority’s participation this year’s event, which took place from the 16th to the 18th of June in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
Taking place over the course of three days, the World Forum for FDI is comprised of a series of high-level panel discussions, presentations, debates, and bilateral meetings that facilitate direct contact between investment promotion entities and corporate location decision-makers. Past forums have been held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Brussels, Belgium; London, United Kingdom; Valencia, Spain; Bologna, Italy; Vilnius, Lithuania; Tallinn, Estonia; and Shanghai, China.
Shurooq organises a year-round calendar of events locally, regionally and globally as part of its strategy to highlight Sharjah’s economic and investment potential. This year Shurooq has already taken Sharjah’s investment promotion campaign to major trading partners all over the world, including China, Germany, India, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Shurooq was recently named FDI Agency of the Year in the MENA region by The European Magazine’s Global Banking and Finance Awards.
